asmileforseoul asked: Part 2: There are always scholarships and I'm going to do my best to receive one but- I have heard that as a international student you can't really have any sort of job on the side while studying. Is that true? If yes- is there a way that you can earn money or something? I just want to add that I'm not a native english speaker so teaching or any sort of private lessons are probably out of the question.

Hmmm.  The only thing that I knew of people doing was tutoring in their native language.  I dont know what yours is, but I’m sure you’ll be able to find someone to tutor in it!! Or, maybe there are part time jobs that are offered at the school???? sorry I dont have a better answer.  You should as the Yonsei staff about that!

Anonymous asked: Part 1: Hello Natasha ^^ I really appreciate that yo share your knowledge and continue to answer questions about life as a student in S.Korea. I have been thinking about attending a university in Seoul but I still have got a lot of time to make that decision final I guess. Nevertheless there's been one always bugging me: my home country has quite a low living style in compartment to Korea and I am really worried about burdening my parents financially.

Hi thanks so much! ^^
I’m from the US and our dollar is worth more than the Korean won, but my family struggled to support me while I was there. But living in Korea was pretty inexpensive. For food, street food is cheap and delicious! Even eating out at restaurants isn’t that bad…

ch0y asked: Would you know if it is hard to switch from a single to double room at SK Global? Thanks! Also, im going this summer if that makes a difference...

Hey! I’m not sure….I know of one person that went from a double to a single, but it didn’t happen during the program, it happened between programs. I wouldn’t rely on it, but at least ask. You never know, some people might not show up.

katiashawol asked: hello) I know you are not studying in Korea anymore, but I still want to ask you this. I am finishing school next year and thinking about going to Korea for a year learning the language. Is it possible to come to Seoul without being a student in uni?And also, are there any summer camps or something like language courses for someone who is 17? thank you)

Yes, there are many universities that offer summer classes for anyone. At Yonsei I took this summer program. I had classmates that were adults and many that we’re about to go into college. The programs are usually a month long, so I’m pretty sure you don’t need a special visa. Sorry my reply was so late!

Anonymous asked: sorry to bother but i just have a quick question. does the KLI programme have school rankings as well? like what you have in a korean middle school and high school?

Sorry for the late reply, no I don’t think KLI had rankings for the students. But you are placed into Korean classes based on your level (there’s a placement test)

Anonymous asked: Helloo not to be creepy or anything, but I stumbled upon your korea yonsei adventures blog posts lol. So I ended up getting a single in SK global because all the double rooms were full :((. Do you think it's harder to meet people and make friends when living in a single? Thanks~

No not at all! You’ll make friends in your Korean classes and other Yonsei classes. If they still have an international students club or Mentors club make sure to join those. Even just sitting in the lobby of SK Global you can meet a lot of people. Also, each floor has a common area where there’s couches and a Tv

I’m sorry, but that was not a closed-door-requiring conversation.  Did you just want everyone else to feel left out of….nothing????
